Welcome to the 2009-10 School Year

Dear Middle School Parents,

Welcome to another exciting year at CMS’s Middle School. As the new Principal in the Middle School, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of your children and playing a major role in their Middle School experience in the coming months. My husband and I have come to CMS because of the school reputation. I have served in schools in the US, Greece, Iran, and Israel.

We, at CMS, have a strong and focused academic program that holds students to high standards in the core academic subjects, the arts, IT, and physical education. As part of the CMS faculty, I have committed myself to the TRIBES agreements and will continue to emphasize “personal best” and “mutual respect” in particular throughout the year. I am a firm believer that exceptional effort and determination can overcome virtually any barrier to an individual’s success. The trick is instilling this strong desire to achieve in all of our students. This is exactly what we, as a faculty, aim to do this year.

To complement our academic program, we offer an incredible array of activities and experiences for our Middle School students, including plays, concerts, class trips, athletic competitions and guest speakers. In addition, our students will have the opportunity to participate in organizations such as National Junior Honor Society and Student Council, and become involved in an array of community service projects that serve our local community. We will again be offering a variety of clubs this year as part of the Homebase Program, which will allow each of our students to participate in brief “mini-courses” that afford student the opportunity to explore areas of interest as they continue the process of self-discovery that is so important at this age. All in all, there is something for everyone and FUN is a major component of life in middle school.

Because last year ended abruptly, we have scheduled our Gr. 8 graduation ceremony for Friday, August 28th at 10:30am in the gym . At that time, the Class of 2013 will receive that their Gr. 8 certificates and be officially welcomed into the HS.

I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming months, and I welcome you to what is certain to be another exciting year in the Middle School. You will find that I have an open mind, an open door and an open heart.

Sincerely,

Marsha L. Aaronson

Middle School Principal
